Cockroaches are notorious for being creepy, dirty, and downright disgusting, but these insects are also unsafe for your home. Cockroaches are known to transmit certain foodborne illnesses like salmonella and carry allergens in your home! These allergens can cause allergic reactions as well as trigger asthma attacks. One study is seeing if exposure to cockroaches will actually cause asthma in preschool-aged kids!
There are 5 main types of cockroaches in Arizona the American cockroach, Brown Banded cockroach, German cockroach, Oriental cockroach, and the Turkestan cockroach. The most common cockroaches you will see inside your house are the German cockroach and Brown Banded cockroaches. These two species of cockroach are astonishingly invasive in homes and reproduce very quickly. These roaches prefer to live where it is warm, dark, and provides an ample amount of food.
Unfortunately due to the high amount of wet weather we have had this year we will most likely see a significant increase in not only cockroaches but also ALL bugs.
