What an amazing May to July in the Studio!
2 Recitals, Students performing in Newsies and Conderella at Hale , Peter Pan at Spark, and NATS NAtional Semi-Finals in Knoxville in 12 categories 4 ended up in Finals!
We are excited to start the new session Aug.5th!

We are so excited to see all the returning faces and all the new faces or our adventures faces who are now starting acting or piano or voice a long with their orginal area of study!!
I am so excited to start the Fall 2024 Session!

NATS(National Assoc of Teachers of Singing) Nationals in Knoxville, TN was amazing!
The students in the studio made top 15 in the entire organization (both National and International)in 11 categories!
3 made it in all categories!

One of the best ways I have learned to support singers, actors, and pianist is by allowing agency in learning and understanding.

I'm still learning- literally everyday- from my own teachers and mentors- new ways to understand learning that was not exactly how I was taught. I want to keep learning, keep expanding my knowledge, and keep focused on truly student led teaching.

Top of my list of things that are NOT our job / responsibility as music educators: ensuring the vocal health of the singers we work with. It IS our job / responsibility to offer singers information and options so they can make informed decisions about what they want to do with their voice. The paternalistic (I must protect the singer by telling them what to do because they don’t know anything about their voice so, if they’re left to their own devices, they will hurt themselves) and/or medical (I have the expertise to tell singers what is wrong with their voice and to prescribe something to fix their voice because they don’t know enough about their own voice and left to their own devices, they will just injure themselves) model(s) of pedagogy are HEAVY WEIGHTS to teach under.
