This post may have been inspired by my own need to get to the bottom of why I noticed my own breakouts around my own Botox appointments. But this conversation has come up with multiple clients over the years. So let’s talk about it!

🧼 Less Thorough Cleansing

Being extra gentle may leave behind more makeup, sunscreen, oil, and sweat than usual. Botox in particular requires you to be extra cautious when cleansing for the first 24 hours. For acne prone skin this can be a window of opportunity for breakouts to creep in.

🩹 Temporary Routine Changes

Aftercare products or taking a short break from parts of your normal routine can sometimes contribute to congestion.

👆 Touching the Area More Often

Checking injection sites, applying ice, or feeling for bumps can increase bacteria transfer.

The injectable may not be causing your breakout. The habits surrounding your appointment could be the real culprit.
