Austria - BMW Group has awarded the French green hydrogen supplier Lhyfe a multi-year contract to supply its Steyr site in Austria. The hydrogen supplied by Lhyfe will be used for series development, industrialisation, testing and validation. The long-established manufacturing plant at Steyr is developing a hydrogen fuel cell system with production planned to start there in 2028.
"As a producer and supplier of green hydrogen in Europe since 2021, Lhyfe has one of the largest bulk hydrogen transportation fleets in the European Union. In 2025, the company made more than 850 deliveries throughout Europe. It has installed four production sites in France and Germany – with a total production capacity of up to 8.5 tonnes of green hydrogen per day – and plans to commission two additional sites in France by the end of the year."
Matthieu Guesné, founder and CEO of Lhyfe: “BMW Group is one of the world’s leading mobility companies, whom we commend for its concrete commitment to the energy transition in a sector set to undergo profound transformation. For Lhyfe, being chosen to support the industrial development of its fuel cell technology is strong recognition not only of our expertise, but also of our ability to guarantee a reliable supply that meets the standards of major manufacturers.”

India’s 1st hydrogen train is ready to operate, produces only water v***r instead of CO₂ & pollutants
India is set to launch its first hydrogen-powered train in Haryana, marking a major step toward clean transport. The pilot project will run on the Jind–Sonipat route to test this new technology. The train uses hydrogen fuel cells, producing zero emissions during operation. It releases only water v***r, making it a cleaner alternative to diesel trains.
This initiative is part of Indian Railways push for green and sustainable mobility. It aims to reduce carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. The train is designed for efficient performance with modern onboard systems. It includes features like automatic doors, digital displays, and passenger-friendly upgrades.
Hydrogen fuel is generated at a dedicated facility in Jind. This supports local production and strengthens clean energy infrastructure. Trials and safety checks are currently underway before full operations begin. The official launch will follow once all approvals are completed.
The project is expected to boost eco-friendly travel in Haryana. It also signals a shift toward future-ready, sustainable rail transport in India.
