Congrats to Lise Dujakovich and her family for receiving the Kansas Special Olympics KC Metro Family of the Year award!
Captain Ward with Johnson County Park Police recommended Lise Dujakovich and her family for the award and Special Olympics Kansas recently presented the award to the family. The Family of the Year award recognizes the family of a Special Olympics Kansas athlete that has made a unique and lasting contribution not only to benefit their athlete, but also to every aspect of the Special Olympics Spirit.
Read what Captain Ward had to say about Lise Dujakovich and her family:
"Over the past four years, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with the Dujakovich family while coaching the JCPRD Stormin' Rangers. Seth Dujakovich is a Special Olympics athlete with the JCPRD Stormin' Rangers. Lise Dujakovich, Seth’s mother, serves as the Adaptive Recreation Coordinator for JCPRD and plays a central role in nearly all aspects of the department’s Special Olympics programming. She is a regular presence at practices and has been instrumental in developing and sustaining innovative and impactful programs.
One of the most notable initiatives is the Stormin' Rangers Disc Golf program, which was inspired by the joy her son Seth finds in playing the sport during his free time. Thanks to Lise’s vision and dedication—and with her son Collin serving as the program’s head coach since its inception—this program has become a meaningful addition to the JCPRD Special Olympics offerings.
In addition to her work with programming, Lise is a committed volunteer, regularly supporting fundraising events through the Law Enforcement Torch Run and JCPRD. Whether she’s braving the cold at the Polar Plunge or organizing athlete participation for Tip-A-Cop events, her commitment is evident. She often includes her son Seth in these events, helping him engage with and give back to the community.
Lise’s husband is also frequently seen cheering on their son at Special Olympics events and practices. He is consistently seen offering help and encouragement, which further enriches the athletes’ experience.
What makes the Dujakovich family truly special however is the way each member actively contributes to the Special Olympics community in a positive way."
Congratulations to Lise and her family!
