Hello!! I have been MIA I know. The last two tax seasons have been a whirlwind. I hope all is well with everyone. As my partner is retired, I am converting everything over to me. This will include a new office space as I needed to trim some overhead. Please stay tuned for a new address. I will be mailing out letters as well.

It has been a crazy few months, right? The latest from the IRS is they will begin processing 2020 income tax returns on February 12.

I will be in the office full time next week. You can always call or email with any questions.

Office hours:
I’m planning on taking most of the rest of April off due to the extended safety in place. I anticipate working Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm beginning May 5. I’m available by appointment if those hours are inconvenient. The office phone is forwarded to my cell phone so I can always take calls. Thank you for your continued support.

Just an update on my office hours. I will be in Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm until April 15. After April 15, I anticipate working Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm starting April 20. I am available by appointment if these times are not convenient for you. I may play that April 20 start date by ear depending how things develop. I will do my best to keep you updated and the office phone will be forwarded when I'm away from the office so you can almost always reach me.

The latest on the IRS extension:

The Treasury Department and IRS announced that the federal income tax filing due date is automatically extended from April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020.
Taxpayers can also defer federal income tax payments due on April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020, without penalties and interest, regardless of the amount owed. Please note, the limitations provided in Notice 2020-17 are no longer applicable.
This deferment applies to all taxpayers, including individuals, trusts and estates, corporations and other non-corporate tax filers as well as those who pay self-employment tax. If your client has already scheduled a payment, at this time the IRS has not provided a way to change the due date. If changes are needed, the only option is to cancel the payment and choose another payment method.
Taxpayers do not need to file any additional forms or call the IRS to qualify for this automatic federal tax filing and payment relief. Individual taxpayers who need additional time to file beyond the July 15 deadline can file an automatic extension to Oct. 15.
This relief is only available for:
Federal income tax payments (including payments of tax on self-employment income) for a 2019 tax return
Federal estimated income tax payments (including payments of tax on self-employment income) due on April 15, 2020, for the 2020 taxable year
It is our understanding that no extension is provided for contributing to a tax-favored HSA, SEP or IRA. We have reached out to the IRS for further guidance.

Due to current events I will mostly be out of the office this week and working from home. I plan to return to the office March 30. I apologize for any inconvenience.
