Foley Freeman welcomes new associate attorney, Allie Schiebout.

Allie graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law and was admitted to the Idaho State Bar in September of 2022. During law school, Allie externed with the Idaho Court of Appeals and interned at Exceed Legal. Allie’s practice will focus on civil litigation, criminal law, bankruptcy, family law, and estate planning.

Mr. Bennett became a partner at Foley Freeman in January of 2019. His practice encompasses a wide range of topics including family law, bankruptcy, and civil litigation.

In 2014, Mr. Bennett graduated first in his class from the University of Idaho College of Law and received several prestigious awards including the College of Law’s Award of Legal Achievement (2014) and the University of Idaho’s Alumni Award for Excellence (2013).

During law school, Mr. Bennett published his article while serving on the Idaho Law Review. The publication entitled Idaho Custody Determinations: Limits on Standing, focuses on 3rd party custody rights in Idaho and earned Mr. Bennett the Idaho Law Review’s Outstanding Associate Writing Award in 2013.

Prior to law school, Mr. Bennett obtained a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Boise State University. As a counselor, Mr. Bennett treated a wide variety of mental health issues in both adults and children. This experience enables Mr. Bennett to provide a unique perspective when advising clients, which often results in lower costs and better outcomes.

Mr. Bennett works with both Spanish and English speaking clients and is proficient in reading writing, and speaking Spanish.

When he is not working, Mr. Bennett enjoys playing soccer, camping, and spending time with his family.

Leah Shotwell is a managing member of the firm concentrates her practice in the area of family law, assisting clients in divorce, child custody, child support, paternity, modifications, property classification and division, adoptions and guardianships. Leah is compassionate and dedicated. Leah’s goal is to help clients emerge from a divorce or other family law case successfully, which, for her, means that her clients receive the resources they need to start their new life. Family law disputes can be very emotional and stressful, but Leah aims to defuse high-conflict situations by finding the best possible solution while protecting her client’s rights.

Leah also serves as a court appointed Guardian Ad Litem for minor children, incapacitated adults and persons with disabilities. She is a member of the Family Law Section of the Idaho State Bar and serves as a council member. Leah completed the Leadership Meridian program through the Meridian Chamber of Commerce in 2014 and was awarded the Leadership Hall of Fame Award in 2016. Leah enjoys serving her community and has been a voluntary Sound Start teacher through the Idaho Volunteer Lawyer’s Program.

Leah was born and raised in Eagle, Idaho and grew up on a black angus ranch. She is a graduate of Centennial High School. She received her bachelor’s degree magna cm laude from Gonzaga University in 2008 and went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the University of Idaho College of Law in December 2010. She was admitted to the Idaho State Bar in April 2011.

Leah resides in Boise with her son and two dogs.

Patrick maintains a broad litigation practice with an emphasis on bankruptcy and commercial litigation. His primary focus is business and agriculture reorganizations, confirming several reorganization plans for businesses and individuals throughout Idaho and Oregon. As a regular presenter on continuing education courses and a former legal extern to Judges Jim Pappas and Terry Myers, the Untied States Bankruptcy Judges for the District of Idaho, Patrick has the experience and skill to successfully guide his clients through difficult financial issues.

Patrick is a current chairperson of the Idaho State Bar’s Commercial Law and Bankruptcy section, former Meridian Chamber of Commerce, and Meridian Education Foundation chairperson and former “Big” through the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program. When he is not working, you can expect to find Patrick at an outdoor music festival, hosting events with his family, or spending time with his children at one of their many, many, many events.

Patrick joined Foley Freeman in 2006 and became a partner in 2009. Patrick received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma Washington in 2000. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2004 where he was warmly selected by his classmates as the “Spirit of the Class.” Patrick is also a graduate of the Idaho Academy of Leadership for Lawyers and a 2016 honoree of the Idaho Business Review’s Accomplished 40 under 40.

Mark Freeman is a managing member of the firm and his practice focuses on estate planning and business transactions. His estate planning practice includes preparing wills, trusts and other estate documents. He appears regularly in probate and other proceedings in Idaho. Mark has extensive experience representing the largest school district with its real estate purchasing and development work. Mark has created and acted as agent for hundreds of business that operate throughout the state. Mark serves as a Special Deputy Attorney General for the Idaho Department of Health Welfare.

Mark is one of the founding members of Foley Freeman. Mark formerly practiced law in Michigan, where he remains an inactive member of the State Bar of Michigan. He is a member of the Real Property and Taxation, Probate & Trust Law sections of the Idaho State Bar, and the Real Property and Trust and Estate Law Section of the American Bar Association.

Mark is past president of the Meridian Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Meridian Rotary Club, and he has served on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Ada County, Idaho since 2003. Mr. Freeman received the “Small Businessperson of the Year” award in 2003 from the Meridian Chamber of Commerce, and in 2005, was selected as “Man of the Year” in recognition of his vast community service to the Meridian community.

When he is not representing his clients best interests you will find Mark out on the golf course or spending time with his family.
