It’s time I get to join the joint replacement club. After years of rationalizing and ignoring the immobility and pain. It’s finally time. Monday first thing I’ll be receiving a new ankle. Since ankles aren’t very common I wanted to research and see if the technology has caught up with hips and knees (shoulders). I’ve known quite an amount of people few of you have been receded me in the process, and having never been under the knife, I’m a bit anxious. I know, Mike, you big baby! Well if anyone would like to share the experiences and the recovery process. I’d sincerely appreciate it!
I’ll be spending my future downtime creating new art for Sport motion art. And very thankful for all of the support

Came over to visit my dad in memory care today. I remembered how he used to cartoon when I was a kid
I got him some paper and pencils and he’s still got it!

I’ve been working on a new series of “zooming balls” the original baseball was titled “express”. After Nolan Ryan’s fastball. I’ve decided to create the objects of as many sports as I can. To come: football, hockey, possibly tennis, bowling. Any suggestions? All will be available in smaller digital prints to larger archival cotton And larger yet, stretched canvas. I’m also looking into seeing how some of the designs will work on specialty items such as hats, travel mugs, greeting cards etc.

I was on a mitt kick for a bit and drew this series of gloves used for the different positions. The one outfield glove is a commission piece I made for my neighbor Brandon Barnes, a retired mlb player. Thanks a million Brandon!! I also just started a vintage series. Which will be a turn of the century depiction of the same mitts

I created a series based on the original rocket ball that encompasses every golfer
You know the one who always hits it a mile! Then there’s the slice, look out if he’s ever hitting into the wind! He’s lined up to the left rough, the ball eventually ends up just before the trees on the right! Next is the hook. I always wished I could hit a ball with that trajectory. Finally the “duff” usually caused when trying to keep up with the rocket, and ends with “mind if I take my mulligan” They’ll be available individually and together as one larger composition

A lot of you were instrumental in me pursuing my art last winter! I felt encouraged to an extent I haven’t been in a long time! Especially to you Val Paul Taylor, encouraging me to draw every day. I’m going to start sharing the process as my website “sportmotionart” evolves. We’ve been working with Boise Web for the last month or so, what an amazing group of people. Jason and Shay have been helping us beginners along this very new process. Should be up and running sometime September
