CALLING ALL MERIDIAN ART LOVERS!

Do you know an incredible local artist, teacher or art supporter who deserves recognition?

The Meridian Arts Commission is officially seeking nominations for the 4th biennial Tammy de Weerd Awards in the Arts!

Award Categories:

— Excellence in the Arts (Artists of any discipline)
— Support of the Arts (Individuals, businesses, or orgs)
— Arts in Education (Teachers and advocates)
— Student Excellence in the Arts (Grades 9-12)

Winners will be announced at 6:25 pm on Wednesday, August 26, during the Morrison Center's Neighborhood Concert Series at Bear Creek Park!

How to Nominate:

Saturday, June 13—Idaho's Free Fishing Day is a day to celebrate fishing in Idaho with no fishing license required.

If you have never been fishing, Free Fishing Day is a great day to learn. Fish and Game personnel will be at Kleiner Park from 9 am - 2 pm to help first-timers discover the joys of fishing.

There are a limited number of loaner rods and reels available to practice with but if you have your own equipment you are encouraged to bring it.

Gene Kleiner Day is this Saturday at 4pm! The will be there playing classical and patriotic tunes to celebrate.

NEW PLAYGROUND ALERT! Bring the kiddos and join Meridian Parks and Recreation for the Tammy Street Park Playground Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Tuesday, June 16, at 11:30 am.

Tammy Street Park is a small, existing pocket park that the City of Meridian received from the Western Ada Recreation District (WARD). The City is adding a new playground to the park, including slides, monkey bars, and multiple climbing elements.

Community members are encouraged to attend the celebration and experience the park and playground firsthand.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will include brief remarks from City and WARD representatives, followed by the official ribbon cutting and an opportunity for attendees to enjoy the new playground.
