As part of two graduate thesis projects at Idaho State University, we are interested in the role played by parents of children with dyslexia or those who struggle to read. Our goal is to better inform and support the parents of these children. We hope to be able to do this after reviewing the survey responses. We invite you to complete and share the survey (link below) with other parents. Participation is voluntary and anonymous. The survey has been approved by the Human Subjects Committee at Idaho State University and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

Society has a moral obligation to look at the loss of well-being that occurs when children can't learn at school. This topic has been denied, ignored and dismissed for too long. What will it take share hearts of compassion and not hearts of stone?

🚀🚀Astronaut Pete Conrad was expelled from his private school even with extra tutoring and enormous hard work! Why? How? The " right" type of help was not available to him. He did not fail school. The school system failed him! Luckily, his determined mother found him another private school that was able to see his strengths and support his dyslexia needs.
Think of the millions of children around the world that leave school because the system is not working for them. We have many terms such as " flunk out, drop out, fade out, disappear, move, relocate, etc." Some may switch to private school , homeschool, vocational, charter, agricultural, unschool, religious school, or work. Many times this is the best choice for survival as well as immense growth. What about the children incarcerated or in mental health /therapeutic schools due to undiagnosed literacy and learning struggles ? Very few land on the moon and more land in jail.
Let's do something about this as a society.
