Are you throwing hooks, or just slapping the air? 🥊

The lead hook is one of the most devastating weapons in boxing, but it’s also the easiest one to mess up. If your hook feels weak or you keep getting caught on the counter, you are likely making one of these three critical mistakes:

❌ 1. Dropping your opposite hand

When you throw the hook, your off-hand cannot go lazy. It must be glued to your chin. If it drops, you are begging to get caught with a nasty counter cross.

❌ 2. Leaving your lead foot glued to the floor

If your heel doesn’t pivot, your hips can’t turn. That means 100% of the punch is coming from your arm, completely leaking your body weight and killing your knockout power.

❌ 3. Looping the punch too wide

A wide hook is a slow hook. Keep a sharp, compact 90-degree angle at the elbow to maintain maximum speed, structural integrity, and leverage.

Tighten up these three details to transform your hook from a weak slap into an absolute bomb.

💬 Swipe through the slides above and let me know in the comments: Which one of these bad habits are you guilty of?

📌 Save this checklist to review before you hit the heavy bag or step into sparring next session!

Real power isn’t arm strength, it’s weight transfer.
If you punch from too far away, you end up reaching. That kills your balance and leaves you wide open.
The fix? Step with the strike.

When your foot and your glove land at the exact same millisecond, your entire body mass hits as a single unit. You close the distance safely and can instantly pivot out.

Feet first, then drop the bomb.

🥊 Comment below: Do you reach, or do you step into the pocket?

📌 Save this for your next session, and follow for daily technical breakdowns.

Range control + Clean ex*****on. ⚡️

You don’t need to smother your work to land with power. Keep your distance, extend your shots, and move with intent. 💥

The scariest person in the gym isn’t the hardest hitter. It’s the one training without intent. 😳👇

if you’re just going through the motions, you aren’t just cheating yourself, you’re leaving your partner vulnerable while building bad habits.

Boxing is built on trust. Respect the craft, protect your team, and make every single rep count.
