🎉 Another wonderful few evenings of financial education! Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Sherman Library for our Basics of Investing workshop.
One piece of feedback especially resonated with us: "Although all of this is very complicated, I can do it." That is exactly why the Good Advice Group exists. Investing, retirement, Medicare, taxes... these topics can feel overwhelming. Our goal isn't to turn anyone into a financial expert overnight—it's to help people feel confident enough to ask questions, understand their options, and make informed decisions.
Thank you again to the Sherman Library for hosting us, and thank you to everyone who spent their evening learning with us. We look forward to seeing you at our next workshop!
"I wish someone had told me that."
It's a phrase I've heard countless times when talking to people about investing and personal finance. I've said it myself. A few years ago, I invested a substantial amount in a business coaching program that was supposed to help me acquire my first business. The advice wasn't bad—it just wasn't right for "my" situation, and above everything, it was expensive!
That's why we created The Good Advice Group. We believe everyone should have access to high-quality financial education—for free. No sales pitch. No hidden agenda. Just practical information to help you ask better questions and make more informed financial decisions.
If there's a topic you'd like us to cover in a future free workshop, let us know in the comments. We'd love to hear your ideas.

When it comes to financial education, I've lost count of how many times I've heard people say:
"I wasn't told."
"Nobody ever explained this to me."
"I wish I had learned this earlier."
The truth is that investing shouldn't be reserved for experts or the wealthy. Everyone deserves access to the knowledge needed to make informed financial decisions—especially in a world where inflation continues to impact our purchasing power.
That's why the Good Advice Group is excited to partner with the Sherman Library to offer a free Basics of Investing Workshop.
Over three sessions, we'll cover:
✅ How stocks, bonds, ETFs, and mutual funds work
✅ How to build a simple investment portfolio
✅ Understanding risk and diversification
✅ Common investing mistakes to avoid
✅ How to get started, regardless of your age or account size
Whether you're just starting out or looking to build confidence in your financial knowledge, this workshop is designed to help you understand the markets and take greater control of your financial future.
All ages are welcome—the younger, the better! Financial literacy is one of the most valuable life skills we can develop, and it's never too early (or too late) to start.

We’re incredibly grateful for the warm reception we receive each time we organize a seminar. Our goal to bring meaningful, actionable financial knowledge to the communities —and it means so much to know it’s making an impact.
We were especially touched by this note from the The Pawling Library library team.
If your organization, library, or community group is interested in hosting one of our seminars, we’d love to connect and continue bringing valuable programming to more audiences.
