Caring Magazine
A magazine from The Salvation Army for people who care. Do good right where you are. Most people want to make an impact but don’t always know where to start.
The Salvation Army’s Caring Magazine helps you see real, tangible ways to do good right where you are. When you know how you’re helping, you can feel good about being part of building your community and giving the world a lasting display of the love behind your beliefs. Here’s the Fight for Good Rule: YOU can be the reason somebody believes in goodness.
🙏True joy is found in God’s presence.
It comes from knowing he loves and cares for you and has a purpose for your life. ❤️
When we draw near to him, trust him and love others as he calls us to, we can experience the fulfilling, hopeful joy that can inspire others.

☔️In December 2025, flood waters rose to three feet in Skagit County, Washington, washing away many of Ken Rogers' personal belongings and soaking the ground until it became unsafe to walk on.
Then Rogers connected with The Salvation Army. Disaster Case Manager Danielle Schooler helped him replace his lost items and even brought in a crew to cover the property in gravel.
🙏“I couldn’t thank everyone enough,” Rogers said. “I’d never be able to get this done on my own.”

🌱 Behind a wooden fence and just yards from the rush of the 710 freeway in Bell, California, rows of flourishing vegetables, fruit trees and the chatter of chickens create an unexpected sense of calm at the GrowGood garden across from The Salvation Army Bell Shelter.
The half-acre urban farm grows more than 40 varieties of produce, with greenhouses, irrigation systems and raised garden beds spread throughout the space. 🌷
“You just feel calm when you’re here,” said GrowGood trainee Nathan Ives.

🤔What’s your purpose?
To climb the corporate ladder? To have a fairytale wedding? To win an Olympic medal? To own a vacation home?
According to Jesus, none of these things matter if you don’t have a relationship with him. ❤️
True fulfillment, purpose and joy are found at the foot of the cross. In the end, the world belongs to Jesus anyway.

☝️In The Salvation Army, leadership rests primarily with its officers—commissioned leaders who serve as pastors and administrators.
It’s a special calling that begins at the corps, or congregation, level, where future leaders are identified and formed long before anyone enters the College for Officer Training (CFOT). ❤️
“We’re just praying that God would provide the right people,” said Western Territorial Candidates’ Secretary Major Jennifer Masango. “We don’t want just anyone. We need people who are called by God.”

❤️🩹After witnessing the level of destruction caused by the 2025 Eaton Fire in Pasadena, California, Steven Seruyange began looking for ways to support those affected.
When he learned about a full-time opening for a Disaster Case Manager at The Salvation Army Pasadena Tabernacle Corps, Seruyange thought he would be a good fit for the job. The corps agreed.
💬“When he talks to people coming in, it’s very much with compassion and care,” Corps Business Administrator Jody Davis, said. “I don’t think we could have found a better person who has the heart to do this work.”
