American Outlaws Merced

Well yesterday was quite the day for fans of the National teams - and we have GREAT news!!

Local outlaws know we've been mostly MIA since the last WC cycle as many of the OGs who started our local got off FB and COVID crippled our watch parties before that.

The good news is that we've transitioned the leadership of the group to the next generation of American Outlaws Merced (who were with us from the start and have dozens of National team supporter caps between 'em!).

Things are looking up so, pardon the dust while we brush ourselves off and get back to supporting the National teams game in and game out - big things a comin' in these here parts again!

Caliguiri against Trinidad & Tobago to send the boys to the 1990 World Cup. O'Brien in 2002 against Portugal to get us out of the group, followed by McBride and Donovan combining for a Dos a Cero to bounce Mexico from the knockouts. Feilheiber in 2007 to beat Mexico in the Gold Cup. Donovan - in stoppage time - against Algeria in 2010 to win the group.

Pulisic - with a focus so single-minded he's now in the hospital - denied his first World Cup in 2018 but made damn sure we're going through in '22 and is forever on the list of folks who got 'em when it mattered.

So let's do it again eh?

Better late than never eh?

Despite missing the last World Cup and despite COVID making it impossible to get together for a huge chunk of qualifying, we're not not getting together for this.

If you were with us in 2014, you know it was at The Partisan. (not-yet-remodeled) where we watched the fellas beat Ghana, draw with Portugal and compete their tails off in a narrow 0-1 loss to Germany to finish second in the group and advance to the knockouts where Timmy Howard played the game of his, or any keeper's, life and kept the game scoreless before an electric three goal overtime period saw the Yanks fall 1-2 and go out just short of the quarterfinals.

So, tomorrow, we're back at The Partisan to do it all again. Tell your boss you're taking an extra hour for lunch out of patriotism and we'll see you there.

Find out at 6:00pm as the men try to follow the ladies’ lead against Mexico in the Gold Cup Final. As always, we’ll be at The Partisan.
