We at Glacier Point Prosthetics would love to hear and share your stories about how you or your community celebrated this month! “Prosthesis” (plural: protheses) is an artificial device that replaces a body part lost through trauma, disease or congenital condition. The components of a prosthesis depends on the body part it replaces. If a prosthesis replaces a leg, for example, you call it a prosthetic leg. 🦿 the anatomy of a prosthetic leg is as follows: socket, suspension system, knee joint, pylon/shank, foot/ankle and if applicable a hip joint.

Regaining mobility and strength involves working closely with a physical therapist. Set goals for yourself and involve your healthcare team so that they can help you achieve them.

The goal of pain management is to improve your quality of life and functioning. Your provider and healthcare team will work with you to adjust your pain management plan so that you feel the best you can.

The recovery process after amputation varies depending on factors such as the level of amputation, your overall health, and the presence of any underlying conditions.

A prosthetic 🦿 limb can restore mobility, but it’s important to know that each prosthesis is tailored to the individual. ***Remember, it may take time to get used to wearing and walking with your prosthesis, so persistence and practice are key 🔑

People often ask, what can I do with my old prosthesis/supplies? Well, if they’re still in good usable condition, you can turn them into us at the office and we will send them to so they can be repurposed for another user who is not as fortunate. Luis, one the recipient of one of the feet recently provided to ROMP through our office.

Luis in Ecuador has recently been fitted with a new prosthetic leg utilizing the Foot that on of our patients donated. Luis was so happy to have his new prosthesis and we wanted to pass along his gratitude.
