Commissioning Day! It is always exciting to see projects get their final commissioning approval from the utility. Today was no different. Homestead High School received full approval on its electrical phase testing from WE Energies and is beginning to soak in the savings from the 300 kW solar array. Thank you to the Mequon-Thiensville School District for putting your trust in On Point Energy and Energy Tech Innovations to deliver this successful project. Arch Solar did a fantastic job on the installation! This project is a great step forward for our amazing community!

Sometimes it is easy to see ordinary things and dismiss the grandeur in them. To many, this picture just looks like a carboard box. But to us, this was the culmination of weeks of grant writing, negotiating, and signing of documents. This box contains solar panels for Homestead High School which were donated by a charitable organization and acquired through a grant. We were proud to see these panels arrive at the school today. These 93 donated panels account for approximately 50 kW of the total 714 solar panels needed for this 300 kW system.

On Point Energy along with its strategic partner, Energy Tech Innovations, is pleased to announce our latest project. We have been working with the Mequon-Thiensville School District to develop a solar project for Homestead High School. During the May 2024 School Board meeting, the board voted to move forward.

This will be a rooftop solar array producing 300 kW (AC) of power for the high school. The power that will be self-generated by this array, will supply approximately 16% of the electrical load for the school and pay for itself in just over six years. The school will use this as a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) learning tool for its students to teach them about the power of the sun and how it can help to electrify our lives.

After a solar system is installed it is important to properly commission the system. Since my last post, there has been a lot of action at our solar project in Franklin, WI. Underground boring has been completed. This will provide us with secure underground wiring connections from the array to the disconnect panel at the building where the interconnection with the utility will happen this weekend. All the solar panels have been installed, all 660 of them! They are being torqued down and wiring will be finished next week. Always exciting to see these projects coming together.
