Fire Marshal Hops and Deputy Fire Marshal Malin are back — this time focusing on Carbon Monoxide Safety
Carbon monoxide (CO) is known as the “Invisible Killer” because you can’t see it, smell it, or taste it. Even small amounts over time can make you sick, while large amounts can quickly become deadly.
🔥 Common sources of carbon monoxide include:
✔️ Vehicles left running
✔️ Furnaces and fuel-burning appliances
✔️ Generators
✔️ Grills and propane-powered equipment
🛑 Protect your family with these important safety tips:
✔️ Install CO alarms outside sleeping areas and on every level of your home
✔️ Test alarms regularly and never ignore chirping or activation alerts
✔️ Never run vehicles inside garages — even with the garage door open
✔️ Keep grills and generators outside and far away from your home
If your carbon monoxide alarm activates or you suspect CO exposure:
➡️ Get everyone outside immediately
➡️ Call 911
➡️ Do not re-enter the home until it is declared safe
Fire Marshal Hops and Deputy Fire Marshal Malin are proud to continue bringing safety education to the community in a fun and engaging way! Stay tuned for more comics in the SPFD Safety Series.

The Town of Buchanan Fire & Rescue, WI hosted an open house to connect with its community and share an important message.
Using banners and HFSC's side by side demonstration video, they helped show how quickly fire conditions can change and how installed home fire sprinklers can make a difference.
A strong example of turning education into real impact at the local level.
