The HiFi difference: Out-of-the-box 5-base sequencing - PacBio 10/19/2022

A new preprint by researchers from Children’s Mercy Kansas City (CMKC) and collaborators is showing the true power of our new 5-base HiFi sequencing.

They identified over 25,000 rare hypermethylation events that occur in two or fewer individuals. 81% of these were allele-specific, i.e., the methylation outlier occurs in only one allele, and predicted to cause loss of regulatory element activity.

5-base HiFi sequencing provides a high-resolution view of epigenetic sequences and their link to genetic function and variation, giving us insights that are shaping our understanding of complex diseases.
