Bittersweet control, working hard! I love how Flower has taught this herd to be phenomenal browsers, she will be profoundly missed when her time comes. One of Penny's sons broke into the buck pen and hung out with his father (Benny) and his Uncle Al. Benny found his antics somewhat confusing but was surprisingly patient. Jayne investigated Benny with a decided aura of, "ew".

Goats doing happy goat things! Polka making the face of a goat who again surpassed 6 # on her second test of the year - hopefully she's no longer inverted! Figuring out nutrition for that heavy hitter has been a pain in the ass. I'll be excited to get results back!

My climbing roses are putting on a magnificent show, these doelings this year have some serious width and length! Watching them unfold is so illuminating, I'm feeling super lucky I'm going to be able to freshen most of them here to see what my breeding decisions produce! Their pen clearly needs a weedwack, but Oscar is loving hiding in the tall grass.

The girls got a portion of woods and grass today, it was all first fresheners and kids out there this morning, with the older ladies staying up in the barn. Maybe they'll come down tomorrow before the fence gets moved again!

Meme and her brood + Penny checking it out! Busy busy this time of year, and trying to stay on top of things.

Obsessed. My Svarthonas (plus 2 Isabel Ameraucana/Bielefelder pullets) are spending their days outside! I had 2 woolies in my hatch which I'm insanely excited about - especially one being a rooster! Unfortunately, he's already a huge as***le.

We're training the babies to the electric netting. Piña and Meme are loving cleaning up the fence line, I'll be excited to have everyone out and about during the day.

Two boys for Penny (Laurentide Papaya Penny)! Both are black with little white polls and brown eyes.

Piña and the swarm!
Milk test results came back yesterday and both Polka and Piña are inverse (protein higher than fat), so diet changes have begun! Meme has a super high somatic cell count, she was okay on her mastitis test - so I'm whipping out the milk machine so I can milk her all the way out. She's a pain about letting down.
Polka 2F: 6.7 # 4.1% Protein 3% Fat
Piña FF: 3.9 # 4% Protein 4% Fat
Meme FF: 3.2 # 3.2% Protein 6.9% Fat

Flor, you are an absolute UNIT at 5.5 weeks old! She takes after her grandmother (SG Sugar Moon O Moon Flower) in both looks and temperament. She stands up for her mother, Old Beach Farm R Pina Colada, who is low in the hierarchy here.
This picture doesn't show off her lovely brisket or fantastic muzzle... or how SOFT her coat is. She'll fill her own hooves, and with her grandmother, Flower, retired, I am super glad to have gotten this gorgeous doe out of her incredibly handsome son, Laurentide Wanna Be A Rockstar *B. Eventually I'll take pictures of all my keepers, but I'm waiting on Jayne & Penny to kid before I make any decisions. Flor, however, is staying.
