I was privileged to be part of the SBA T.H.R.I.V.E. Program in July of 2024. Collaborating with fellow entrepreneurs was an incredible experience that significantly contributed to my development as a business owner. The Memphis Grind & Thrive Cohort and instructors were truly “amazing”.

Amazing lighting accomplishments of Lewis Howard Latimer.
Born: Sept. 4, 1848 Demise: Dec. 11, 1928.
His success included:

9-13-1881 Patented the use of carbon filament in
light bulbs that increased the amount of time bulbs could be used before having to replace them.

1-17-1882 Patenting the “Process of Manufacturing
Carbons”, in light bulbs.

1890 Wrote the book, “Incandescent Electric
Lighting.”

1-24-1918 1st and only African American named a
charter member of the “Edison Pioneers”. The prestigious group were known for creating the nations’ electric power industry.

The energy, enthusiasm, and efforts shown by Skanska exemplified their commitment to equip minority and women owned entrepreneurs with instrumental knowledge needed for the growth and success of our businesses.
