Earlier this month, the Supreme Court ruled unanimously that freight brokers are not shielded from lawsuits claiming they negligently hired dangerous motor carriers, meaning accident victims can sue freight brokers who hire the carriers involved. Freight brokers must now negotiate additional coverage with insurance providers for this added liability.
