Last week I had the honor of attending the High School Musical Theater Awards at the Orpheum Theatre. And let me tell you!! The students’ vocal prowess, expressive acting, movement vocabulary and stage presence were simply breathtaking. I was moved to tears more than once.
Watching the Orpheum’s Education & Community Engagement team in action has been just as inspiring. Jennifer McGrath, Brooke Sarden, Taylor St. John, Lena Wallace Black and their entire staff lead with such care and thoughtfulness. I feel truly lucky to be working with them alongside a roster of amazing Teaching Artists this summer in Camp Collaborate, Arts Explore, and Mending Hearts Camp.
Nothing brings me more fulfillment than helping young people discover their voice, and the Orpheum creates a space where every student feels seen and safe to create. I’m incredibly grateful to be part of such a special & prestigious organization.🌟
I was so mesmerized by the whole show that I barely got any photos or videos! 🤯 I wanted to be 100% present for every moment.

I was so mesmerized by the entire HSMTA show that I barely took any photos or videos! 🤯 I wanted to be fully present for every single moment. It’s incredible to think that over 50 high schools from across the Mid-South - Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Missouri - were all represented. Seeing that made me reflect on how life-changing an opportunity like this would’ve been for a young theater kid like myself growing up in Lafayette, LA.
It’s truly a remarkable program, and a huge round of applause to the amazing staff at for the impactful work they do!!! 👏

Words can’t express what a joy it was to be invited to interpret the legendary rock and roll song “Rock Around The Clock” to an audience of 20,000🤯. left me feeling reinvigorated and full of inspiration.
We’re technically not supposed to post the whole song yet on socials because of copyright purposes; maybe in the future we might be able to! But I thought I’d atleast share a lil back story.
A highlight for me was when the massive audience joyfully hollered back at me when I said I was from South Louisiana and based in Memphis!!!! And the yogi in me of course had to throw in a moment of intentional breathing for everyone before we started the song 😉 plus a brief history lesson about our instruments we’re playing found in Creole Zydeco music. It was a magical night✨
Bruce Cohen generously welcomed special guest artists to perform a meaningful song between the headlining bands. Each song helped to tell the story of how impactful freedom of speech has been historically throughout popular music.
I’m so proud of my fellow special guest artists & for bravely diving in heart first to this moment. They both delivered such passionate, beautiful performances, and I encourage you to go follow them and their work!!! Bold, brilliant artists that I feel honored to now know.
I’m grateful to my family for instilling a spirit of fearlessness in me, which has helped me grab a hold of the big moments in life; With warmth, confidence and authenticity.
thank you for holding the beat down for me every day in my life in more ways than one❤️❤️❤️
As soon as I can share more clips I will!!!

I’m excited to speak at Big Towns Conference in my hometown of Lafayette, LA this Wednesday April 22! and I know that artists are community anchors.
In mid-sized cities, creatives are the economic glue, but we’re often the first to be priced out. At Big Towns, Elizabeth and I will talk with Exec. Director of ACA, Sam Oliver, about the practical side of keeping your city’s soul intact and your music economy growing while developers are knocking.
Register and join us at our session-
Musicians as Ambassadors: How Cities Build Identity, Exports, and Opportunity @ 10:15AM in the Theater
