❤️🤍💙
In 2014, Jeremiah was born with complex medical needs that led to his first year of life being spent in a hospital. On top of that, he went into the foster care system, thus needing a family with medical training to properly care for him.
Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital nurse Jordan Dickerson first met Jeremiah when he was a patient in 2016. A couple months went by, and Jordan was unable to shake the feeling that she needed to be there for Jeremiah.
Newly married, Jordan and her husband, Cole, had talked about fostering, but it was an idea for the future. One afternoon, Jordan expressed her concerns to Cole and told him that the Lord placed Jeremiah on her heart.
The next day, the couple began researching fostering classes and information to prepare for the next steps in the process. Jordan knew that Jeremiah wasn’t like any other foster child; he would need special medical attention from trained professionals.
Jordan and Cole worked with a caseworker to discuss what it would mean to adopt a child with the medical expectations that Jeremiah has.
Fortunately, in June 2017, 3-year-old Jeremiah came home with Jordan and Cole. Although Jordan and Cole had not planned for any siblings for Jeremiah, they were shocked to learn that Jordan became pregnant just two weeks after Jeremiah said a thank you prayer for his forever family.
In July of 2018, Jeremiah officially became a Dickerson after being adopted by Jordan and Cole. Jordan says she is grateful Le Bonheur gave her the training and resources necessary to care for her son and make her dream family a reality.
