The Mid-South Coliseum: Renovation Rather Than Demolition
A refurbished Mid-South Coliseum could be an important asset to our community. The building could follow in the lead of both Memorial Auditorium in Nashville and Checkers Arena in Charlotte. Those two buildings were once the main arenas in their respective cities and now both have settled into a profitable civic role.
The Mid-South Coliseum could be used for:
Concerts and Other Entertainment Events (Working with Live Nation and the Grizzlies to supersede the “right of first refusal” clause in the Hoops Inc, contract.
Memphis Hustle home games
Lady Tiger home games
AEW Wrestling
Graduations
Trade Shows
Corporate functions
The naming rights for the building could be sold to generate funds needed for renovation. Also, the building manager for Memorial Auditorium in Nashville has generously offered his time to help us put together an operations plan that will generate a profit for the city and pay off any bond debt incurred in redevelopment.

I have contacted members of the Memphis City Council and told them I would like to present my case for renovation of the iconic building before the mayor presents his plans for demolition.
