Using passive voice can often weaken your writing, but it isn't grammatically incorrect. Remember that in the active voice, the subject does the action. In the passive voice, the subject is acted upon.
Times when the passive voice may be preferred:
-When the action is more important than the doer
-Reporting incidents where the perpetrator is unknown
-To avoid use of first person in scientific writing
