Melbourne Community Orchestra
Orchestra in Residence for the City of Melbourne Our musicians include current and past professionals, as well as, gifted amateurs and students.
The Melbourne Community Orchestra is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free musical performances to the community. All of our musicians are volunteers, and they practice, rehearse and perform for nothing in return, except the pure joy they feel when they get to play for an audience. Happy Father’s Day to all the musician dads! 🎶💙
Thank you for:
🚗 Driving to rehearsals
🎟️ Attending every concert
🎶 Listening to us practice the same measure repeatedly
😅 Pretending not to notice when we were practicing the wrong measure repeatedly
Today we’re celebrating all the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, mentors, and father figures who support the music—and the musicians—we love.
We couldn’t do it without you. ❤️
Happy Father’s Day from your MCO family!

🎂 Happy Birthday to the only person we know who can turn a 5-minute rehearsal break into a 20-minute story. 😏🎶
Thank you, Maestro Mark (Mark Nelson), for your passion, leadership, endless musical knowledge, and approximately 47,000 “one more times” over the years.
We’re grateful for everything you do for MCO and for the countless musicians whose lives you’ve touched throughout your career.
Have a wonderful birthday, Maestro! 🎉🎶
(And no, we’re not taking birthdays “one more time.”)

🇺🇸 And that’s a wrap on Season 36. 🎶
What an incredible way to end our Come Fly Away season.
From the colonial sounds of our fife & drum preshow to the soaring finale of Copland’s Symphony No. 3, last night’s concert was a celebration of America, community, and the joy of making music together.
To our musicians, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and audience members: thank you. Your support allows us to continue bringing free live orchestral music to Brevard County and building something truly special together.
As we look back on a season filled with adventure, mystery, imagination, and unforgettable music, we’re also looking ahead to Season 37: Getting to Know You.
But before we do that, let’s take one last look at some memories from an amazing night.
❤️ Thank you for flying away with us this season. We can’t wait to see you again in September.

🇺🇸 What does America sound like?
According to composer Joan Tower, it sounds a lot like community.
When Tower wrote Made in America, she wrote it for community orchestras—musicians from different backgrounds coming together to create something bigger than themselves.
That sounds a lot like MCO.
Watch this short clip from Joan Tower, then join us as we perform Made in America live during Coming Home: A Musical Tribute to America.
