Ok, a question i get asked often is why do us as Christians need to know the old testament, if we are the new covenant of Christ? ..... let me ask a question, why did Jesus on the cross say everything he said? Example, If Jesus truly is God, then why did he say "My God, My God why have you forsaken me" if he was God why does he ask why God has forsaken him ... Now who was at Jesus feet, the pharisees, who were the teachers of scripture( the old testament- the Jews) and the Roman soldiers ( the Pagans) ... The pharisees had the "old testament" memorized, that was their job! So when Jesus Crys out "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me" it was so the pharisees would hear it, they then would recall scripture ... what was the scripture .... the scripture that 1000 years before Jesus, would speak of their Messiah crucified .... Psalms 22:1 "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me, Why are you so far from me, from Saving me, so far from the words of my groans" then goes on to say " "Dogs(Roman soldiers) have surrounded me, a band of evil men have encircled me, they have pierced my hands and feet, I can count all my bones, people stare and gloat over me, they divide my garments, and cast lots for my clothing" etx ... Jesus was proving that he was indeed the Messiah the Hebrews had been waiting for, that his very crucifixion was the scripture they taught every week, yet they just killed him.... that is what is meant when we say, "Jesus fulfilled all the law and all the prophets" everything Jesus did was prophesied in the old testament, he completed it all!
nothing fake just daily testimony .. this is real life, thank you Jesus!
