The nervous system has two settings.

Connection mode (feeling safe) & Protection mode (not feeling safe).

I can pretty much guarantee that the behaviors you wish your child would change happen when their nervous system is in protection mode.

That means that instead of focusing on behavior, we can stay focused on helping the nervous system shift into connection mode.

Strenthening and retuning your nervous system helps to decrease your automatic 'trigger' reactions.

I get this ask a lot!

The truth is that when you are getting triggered and your emotions have already taken over there is nothing you can do in the heat of the moment.

Your fight-or-flight response has already been set off and once that is on 🔥 it’s 🤯.

All this advice is BS and works only like a 🩹

❌Counting backwards…
❌Breathing…
❌Walking away…

It can work but the time were you will lose your temper will come back again.

So what does work in the heat of the moment?

NOTHING 🤷‍♀️

Like it or not but that’s how your brain works.

What you want to work on is to not even get heated up in the first place.

To strengthen your nervous system so your fight-or-flight response doesn’t even get activated.

To recode your emotional wiring so you can show up grounded and collected.

Your kids will be forever grateful
