Having a Whale of a Time just came off the frame. Such a fun rug to add to my Beach Collection. Gonna whip the edge after I clean it up and steam it.

This was a great memory at Oxford Rug School in 2019 working on George Washington's Battle at Lamington Hill. I'm just now getting it on the frame for a lengthy winter of personal punching fun. I've been saving this gem for just the right time.
Our address when we first got married 34 years ago was Lamington Hill. Love the connection. Can't wait to share my progress.

To eliminate or reduce having to turn your frame, it is good practice to learn how to punch with the hand OPPOSITE of your dominant one. Mine is my left. You can use your pinky as a stabilizer until your hand-eye-brain coordinate this new move. It saves time, and gives your dominant hand a break!

On a detailed project with alot of shading and definition it is best to adjust the loops as you go. Saving this step for steaming day is alot of work. Makevsyre you place the iron down and hold for 7-10 seconds before lifting it. Never push back and forth. We aren't ironing, we are steaming. Success!

Remember when steaming your rug, set the loops where you want them. You are the boss, you arrange them before setting with steam. I like a mitered corner, nice and neat. It makes sewing up easier. Remember to not punch too many loops in the corners and in the border edge. Go slow and figure how much wiggle room you have there. Success!
