Starbucks has reached a nationwide agreement with Florida, resolving a civil lawsuit over the company’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) employment policies.

Under the settlement announced by Attorney General James Uthmeier, will:

▶️ Pay $1 million
▶️ Avoid race‑based or sex‑based goals, quotas, or preferences in hiring, promotions, training, and compensation
▶️ Follow federal and state laws prohibiting discriminatory employment practices across all U.S. locations, not just Florida

Florida’s lawsuit, filed in December 2025, alleged the company tied executive compensation to racial representation goals in violation of the Florida Act. Starbucks denied wrongdoing and said it remains focused on providing jobs and career opportunities.
