What a beautiful day spent celebrating May Day yesterday here in Medford! It truly captured the spirit of the holiday - solidarity, community, and strength.

The billionaire class continues to line their pockets off the backs of working people, all while we’re asked to make up the difference. There’s more we can do here in Massachusetts to make corporations and the wealthy pay their fair share, and today was a reminder that we absolutely have the power to demand it.

A huge congratulations to Mystic Mashup Indivisible, Our Revolution Medford, Medford for Palestine, SEIU 509, 32BJ SEIU, LUCE Medford, Safe Medford, Medford People Power, and Medford Community Resource Network for coordinating such a joyous and successful event.

I just attended the unveiling of the new Missituk School cafeteria alongside School Committee members Jessica Parks for Medford School Committee, Jenny Graham, Medford School Committee, and Erika Reinfeld, Medford School Committee - and wow!

It’s amazing what can be done when we don’t accept the bare minimum for our kids. A cafeteria can be a place to eat, but it ALSO can also be a place where learning and joy are happening, and art and history are being celebrated and acknowledged.

Special thanks to the Director of Food Services Retta Smith for her incredible leadership and vision!

A weekend well spent across Medford and Somerville gathering signatures and meeting more of my neighbors! Next stop, City Hall for certification! Not pictured: scraped knees and delicious bagels from

Spent some time last night at the Missituk Elementary School, named from the Massachusett word for 'great tidal river', for their Celebration of Cultures.

The room was so full… families, kids, neighbors. I tried a few things I'd never had before—turns out 'trying something new' is a lot easier when it smells really good.

But what stood out to me wasn't just the performances or the food. It was how many different stories are part of our community, and how naturally they all show up in the same space.

That doesn’t happen by accident.

It takes people who are willing to build something together over time.

Grateful to be part of a place that keeps building this.

The first photo is with the fabulous Ms. Marie Cassidy from the Medford Family Network—a steady force behind the connections that make nights like this possible. And yes, that's a Medford Mustang in there, too. Huge thanks to the Missituk PTO for putting this together! The student (and staff!) performances were pure joy.

The PROTECT Act, fresh out of Ways and Means, is a missed opportunity — and frankly, a failure. Allowing the 287(g) agreement between ICE and the Department of Corrections to continue is not resistance. It is compliance. We cannot claim to stand against the Trump Administration while actively enabling its deportation machine.

Today, I’m officially announcing that I am running for State Representative for Medford and Somerville. After nine years of hands-on public service here in Medford, I’m ready to bring that same energy and commitment to the residents of Somerville and take our shared values to Beacon Hill.

I know firsthand that school can be the only safe place a child has - I grew up experiencing homelessness and food insecurity, without access to basic medical and dental care. I’ve carried that lived experience with me, and it has shaped my belief that government must help people build stable lives, not force them to fight to get by.

From free meals for all students to fighting for a living wage for the lowest-paid teaching staff, to eliminating out-of-school suspensions and strengthening bullying prevention, I know what it takes to get things done in government.

So let’s get it done - for Medford, for Somerville, for all of us.

Absolutely astounded what a group of people connected by a shared set of values can accomplish!

Thank you Medford and thank you to the many volunteers and anyone that gave to our campaigns ❤️.

Medford stood up tonight and loudly proclaimed that we will keep building a Medford for All of Us where we lift everyone up and leave no one behind. We’re proud to announce that 12 of our 13 candidates won tonight.

Emily Lazzaro, Zac Bears, Anna Callahan, Justin Tseng, Matt Leming, and Liz Mullane will be Medford City Councilors for the 2026-2027 term.

Jenny Graham, Erika Reinfeld, Jessica Parks, Aaron Olapade, Mike Mastrobuoni, and Paul Ruseau will be Medford School Committee Members for the 2026-2027 term.

The results between George Scarpelli and Miranda Briseño are too close to call and will come down to any provisional or late returning mail ballots that have yet to be counted.

Thank you to the thousands of volunteers and supporters who powered this campaign to victory. Our Revolution Medford is a grassroots people-powered movement of local residents who love Medford and are committed to building a better future for our beloved city.

Medford’s best days lie ahead, and it will take the hard work and dedication of every Medford resident to build the city we know is possible.
