Slow-cooked apple butter is one of my favorite treats, and as a bonus, it's unbelievably easy to make and preserve with canning. 🍎🍎🍎⁣

⁣⁣Start by slow-cooking apples and apple juice together in your crockpot for a few hours or until they're soft, tender, and broken down into a sauce. ⁣⁣At this point, add your spices and sweetener of choice before setting your slow cooker to its lowest setting and cooking for up to 36 hours. 🍏🍏🍏⁣

We're reaching a pivotal moment in our valley's food system journey, and you're invited to be part of it! Join us for the Rogue Valley Community Food Solutions Summit on January 17th, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM at the OSU Extension Auditorium.

We'll publicly share the findings from our comprehensive "State of the Food System: Rogue Valley Community Food Assessment" and introduce our collaborative Food Action Plan. Together, we'll explore four priorities that emerged from this work:

– Making healthy food accessible to everyone
– Supporting our local food and farm economy
– Protecting soil and water resources
– Reducing food waste

Your voice and expertise - whether as a farmer, business owner, healthcare provider, educator, and/or engaged community member - will be essential as we form strategic working groups to turn our shared vision into reality.
