The Mebane Police Department joins communities across the nation in observing Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
Every older adult deserves to live with dignity, respect, and safety. Elder abuse can take many forms, including physical, emotional, financial, and neglect. By recognizing the warning signs and speaking up when something seems wrong, we can help protect some of our most vulnerable citizens.
If you suspect elder abuse, neglect, or exploitation, please report it to your local law enforcement or Adult Protective Services. Together, we can make a difference and ensure our seniors remain safe and supported.

Today, members of the Mebane Police Department proudly participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics North Carolina in support of Special Olympics athletes across the state. Mebane PD was honored to be joined by members of the Mebane Fire Department during the event, demonstrating the strong partnership between our public safety agencies. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Burlington Police Department and Orange County Sheriff’s Office for assisting with traffic control and helping ensure the event was conducted safely for both participants and the public.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is an annual statewide event that helps raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics North Carolina. Law enforcement officers from across the state carry the “Flame of Hope” through their communities to help support year-round athletic training and competition opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
