“A society that doesn’t ‘get’ stuttering puts fear in the hearts of parents and people who stutter.” Please cue me, trying to pick one simple line from my conversation with @missninaslp of @stutteringtherapyresources … and making a 4-page slide instead 😂😂😂😂 This whole part of the episode, which happens at minute 9, is so good. Giving ourselves grace and understanding why we all feel these fears is necessary in order to dig deeper and work through it. Nina adds that we’re making progress in society on this - and I agree - but it still informs our initial fears and worries. And this is why I post what I do. Misunderstandings about stuttering are often from those who care and don’t mean harm - but have been influenced by society. But it is harm, and we must normalize pointing these things out so that we can all do better.
