He turned imagination into inclusion!

From the moment Joshua Leonard’s brother taught him how to draw Garfield in kindergarten, his passion for drawing only continued to grow. By the time he reached high school, Leonard came up with the idea to create an animated series about a group of kids with special needs who had superpowers.

“Black people in the animation industry is less than 3%, so I was like I need to create something so dope and so different outside of the box that includes everybody,” Leonard told Because of Them We Can.

Yesterday Especially Needed hosted our 14th Annual Eggstravaganza and Resource Fair. We want to send a HUGE thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who showed up to support our amazing families. And a BIG thank you to all the vendors and service providers who helped make the event soo memorable. Without all of you, these events would not be possible, so THANK YOU! And shout out to the Miracle League and Frisco for always supporting Especially Needed, we love the new field.

On World Down Syndrome Day, we celebrate the individuals who break barriers and defy expectations with every step forward. 🩷🩷🩷 Keep rocking that extra chromosome!
