There is no wrong way to become a mother πŸ’š

Via Genesis Birth Co.

"I feel like I cheated" one new mom said to me as she was holding her newborn in her arms. She had opted for the epidural during labor after she had planned for a drug free birth. My heart broke for her because that's not at all how I saw it. β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
I saw her throughout her pregnancy as she grew and struggled more and more to do everyday things. β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
I saw the growing pains she had as her baby got bigger and her belly expanded. β €β €β €
β €β €β €β €β €β €
I saw her exhausted toward the end because no position was comfortable. β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €

I saw her prepare by reading, practicing, and taking every class that was offered.

I saw her walking, bouncing, and doing anything possible to speed up her labor.β €β €β €β €
β €β €β €β €β €
I saw her push her baby into her loving arms. β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
That doesn't sound like cheating to me.

YOU GUYS. This is BFF goals! 😍

πŸ“· Birth Unscripted

It's not every day that best friends go into labor on the same day, at the same birth center, just rooms away. One delivered first and the other came to visit for a few minutes laboring in between... and one of those babies was born en caul. It was epic and we had the privilege of capturing both!

Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas πŸ˜‚) during labor is a great option for pain relief. You control how much you use it and you don't need to be hooked up to a machine πŸ™ŒπŸΎ

Did you use nitrous oxide during your labor?

Happy Mother's Day to every kind of mother out there. You are a force of nature to be celebrated and cherished!

β€œWe experience birth so differently from the intimate spaces of our bodies and minds, it feels disingenuous to strike comparisons and place value judgments. Any woman who experiences the vulnerability of carrying a child in her body (or heart) and bringing it earthside is heroic in my estimation. This idea that there is a special medal dangling on the tree for going without meds makes us undervalue ourselves and depreciate the ordeals we have endured. Loss moms, adoptive moms, cesarean birth mothers…We all open. We all tear, somewhere (body, heart, soul). We all both wildly embrace and struggle to embrace these experiences. It all takes courage and that courage is always worth celebrating.” β€” Rachel Lorena Brown
