Lou Gehrig Day, observed annually by Major League Baseball on June 2nd, is a day to honor the legacy of legendary baseball player Lou Gehrig and raise awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. The day marks both the date Gehrig became the Yankees' starting first baseman, beginning his record-breaking streak of consecutive games played, and the date of his passing from ALS.
🙏🏻Not a day goes by that our organization isn't thinking and praying for an end to ALS. Our dearest friend and supporter Mark is on our mind daily as we always remember the great times and memories. We love and miss you so much! 🙏🏻
