Lactation Care Center RGV

The Lactation Care Center RGV is funded by Texas WIC. Private consultations are available to mothers enrolled in the WIC program. SERVICES PROVIDED:

We provide free PRENATAL AND POSTPARTUM breastfeeding classes for all mothers (& support persons) our community. Our mission is to help mothers and their infants, who reside in the State of Texas, in overcoming their barriers and achieving their breastfeeding goals, thus increasing breastfeeding rates and duration in "the Valley". Free breastfeeding classes open to the community:
a. PRE

NATAL breastfeeding series (The first class "Getting Started Right" is recommended to be
taken during pregnancy; other classes, although preferable to be taken during pregnancy, may be
attended or repeated after delivery)
b. POSTPARTUM breastfeeding class on how to optimize your latch and milk production

2. Free consultations for mothers who are enrolled in the WIC program, options include in-clinic, telephone or virtual. The consultations may include one-on-one breastfeeding education, assistance & support, help with breast pumps and lactation devices, as needed

Due to extreme cold conditions, all Hidalgo County, offices, including the Hidalgo County Courthouse, will delay their opening until 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 26.

The US National Weather Service Brownsville/Rio Grande Valley Texas has issued a Freeze Watch and Extreme Cold Advisory, with wind chills expected to feel as low as 24–31 degrees.

🔹 Jury panels scheduled for Monday have been canceled
🔹 County services will be available once offices open
