A note from Seth S:

“Criminal Overload

There are some artists or groups I know that have a lot of talent, such as Nirvana, The Beach Boys, or Gram Parsons/The Byrds. I don't listen to any of them; they're not my kind of music. Please add that I live nowhere near Avenel, NJ; it makes you do a quick head scratch. What drew me in was that there was a big collaboration among veteran musicians that bound/came together to celebrate a rock star; to me, it was more than intriguing to want to see a live concert in person.

On April 29th 2026, I attended '20,000 Roads: The Music Of Gram Parsons'. The top three billed artists for this event from The Avenel Performing Arts Center were James Maddock, Lisa Bouchelle & Pat Guadagno. Shawn Pelton was also mentioned as a member of the band.

Band Personnel:
James Maddock - Vocals, Guitar(s)
Lisa Bouchelle - Vocals, Guitar, Tambourine
Pat Guadagno - Vocals, Guitars
Shawn Pelton - Drums, Percussion, Accordion, Guitars

Note: there were three other musicians present, but none of their names were showcased in the online advertisements for this concert
Piano
Bass Guitar
Pedal Steel Guitar .... I apologize in advance for guessing the name of this instrument, in case it wasn't used, and I'm wrong

The Concert:
The band started on time and approached the first song with stride and determination. There were very minor tweaks that didn't present themselves as too apparent to the casual music listener. You could, however, hear some surprisingly structured balance musicianship and singing from the get-go...it was a little exciting from the start.
After the first song concluded, it was nearly perfection from that point on; nitpicking would be difficult to do. This was the most magical collaborative performances I have ever seen in my entire life.

Pat Guadagno was the best frontman I have ever witnessed in person, with his consistent guitar playing and fun singing to his funny narration from song to song. I was fully captivated by the truly amazing musician he proved to be, wow!
James Maddock was dependable on all guitar playing and came across as a better sounding raspy voiced Bruce Springsteen
Lisa Bouchelle played some rhythm guitar and tambourine, while she shined on her vocals that would make any Emmylou Harris fan amazed + entertatined. Not only did she have the best vocals of the night, but she also wore the best wardrobe; non-stop compliments from the audience all through the set about her different outfits.

Shawn Pelton played with the vigor of Steve Gadd; powerful, loud, and always consistent. He was a chameleon on multiple other instruments besides the drums and perfectly excelled those as well

To the three band members, this venue omitted naming online:
The bass player was a constant, very dependable, and the backbeat of every song music genius. This is a guy who truly knows how to play the bass guitar
The band took such great joy when the piano player would take the song at the bridge, or the ending fade; all paid close attention and even paid a shared audience clapping ovation for his amazing and talented work.

And finally, to the Pedal Steel Guitar Player, this guy was more ready than anyone else in the band. He had a hunger and a passion during each song throughout the whole night.

What's criminal here is that 20,000 Roads' live performance was so amazing that it beats out Ringo Starr and his All-Star Band live performance, it's on the same level as say Roy Orbison: A Black and White Night, or quite possibly Chet Atkins: Certified Guitar Player. I do hope this dazzled the audience as it did for me. The average age of the crowd was maybe 63 years old. I hope the theatre releases this recorded concert, it deserves to be shown and enjoyed by much bigger masses ASAP.

Final Score: 100 “
