Even with a modest interest rate, a 1,000 s.f. economy home will cost $2,000/mo when you include taxes, insurance, and utilities. This would require a minimum income of over $6,500/mo or nearly $80,000/yr in order to not be cost burdened. The median income in Warren County is $47,000, and around $37,500 for Butler and Hamilton Counties. That means the vast majority of households cannot afford to buy a newly constructed home, or would be severely cost burdened if they did, especially households with low or extremely low income.
