Against all odds.
Meet Mary. 20 years ago Mary was diagnosed with a baseball sized malignant brain tumor. She endured chemo, 18 surgeries, and radiation treatments, she lost her left side function twice, and she has partial blindness.
Yet against all odds, Mary is thriving today, and last August, with the assistance of Luke5Adventures, Mary hiked to the 14,115 foot high apex of Pikes Peak.
Against all odds. That is the story of Luke5Adventures. That is the story of our hikers.

Today, we completed a memorial hike that none of us will ever forget.
On May 6, 2024, Scout Lookout in Zion National Park became the site of an unimaginable loss when Scott Backer suffered a fatal cardiac arrest while on a three generation family hike.
Exactly two years later, to the very minute, we had the honor of returning with his wife, Yesenia, their daughters Taylor and Brooke, and members of their family to the very place where Scott passed away.
Yesenia herself rode in a Rosie, alongside her daughter Brooke, who has Angelman Syndrome. Together, we made it back to Scout Lookout to remember, honor, and celebrate Scott’s life.
What unfolded on that Scout Lookout today was sacred. Tears were shared. Sweet memories were told. Laughter echoed through the canyon. Smiles broke through grief. In a place marked by loss, there was also peace, comfort, and love.
We at Luke5Adventures are deeply honored that this family trusted us to walk with them through such a meaningful and emotional day.
