Public Works' Signal Shop Lead Electrician, Ron Alderman, and Director Warren Lai, were excited to attend the Countywide Smart Signals launch event hosted by CCTA in Danville recently. Many of the 800 traffic signals we maintain across the county use older equipment, making them challenging to service, especially during inclement weather. Also, they are not well-connected to each other. That makes it harder to coordinate signals, respond to changing traffic, and improve safety for people walking and biking. These upgrades will bring intersections up to a modern standard, making them safer to maintain while helping traffic move more smoothly throughout the county.
