⚠️ Severe Weather Reminder for Pet Owners ⚠️
With high winds and the potential for severe weather heading our way, now is a great time to prepare for your pets and animals before the storms arrive.
🐾 Outdoor Pets
Please bring outdoor pets inside if possible. High winds, lightning, heavy rain, and falling debris can be frightening and dangerous for pets.
🐠 Fish Keepers
If power outages occur, remember that oxygen levels in aquariums can begin to drop without filtration and water movement. Consider:
✅ Battery-operated air pumps
✅ Backup power sources
✅ Minimizing feeding during extended outages
Many established aquariums can tolerate short outages, but preparation is always best.
🦎 Reptile Owners
Be mindful that reptiles depend on heat and UVB lighting for their health. Have a plan in place if the power goes out:
✅ Monitor enclosure temperatures
✅ Have hand warmers or emergency heat sources available (used safely)
✅ Know which species are most sensitive to temperature drops
🐰 Small Animals & Birds
Make sure cages are secure and away from windows where strong winds or flying debris could become a hazard.
A little preparation today can make a big difference if severe weather moves through our area. Stay safe, keep an eye on weather updates, and don’t wait until the last minute to make a plan for your pets.

☀️🐾 SUMMER GROOMING TIP FOR PET OWNERS 🐾☀️
As temperatures start climbing, many people think shaving their pets will help keep them cooler. But did you know that's not always the case?
🐕 For many dogs, especially double-coated breeds like Huskies, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Great Pyrenees, and Australian Shepherds, their coat actually helps regulate body temperature. Their fur acts as insulation, helping keep them cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Shaving these breeds can make them more prone to sunburn, overheating, and may even damage their coat permanently.
✂️ What CAN help?
✅ Regular brushing to remove loose undercoat
✅ Trimming excess fur around paws and sanitary areas
✅ Keeping mats and tangles removed
✅ Providing plenty of shade and fresh water
🐩 Dogs with continuously growing hair, such as Poodles, Shih Tzus, Yorkies, Maltese, and Doodles, can benefit from summer haircuts. A shorter trim can help make them more comfortable and easier to maintain during hot weather.
🐱 What about cats?
Most cats do not need to be shaved. Regular brushing is usually enough to help remove excess fur and reduce shedding. Cats with severe matting may need professional grooming.
🌡️ No matter what breed you have, remember:
💧 Always provide fresh water
🌳 Offer shade when outdoors
🚗 Never leave pets in a vehicle
🐾 Avoid walks on hot pavement during the hottest part of the day
When in doubt, talk with your groomer or veterinarian before shaving your pet. Sometimes the best way to keep them cool is simply a good brushing and plenty of water!

Did you Know the Mexican Red Rump Tarantula is that it has a hilarious defense mechanism called “hair kicking.”
When threatened, it rubs its back legs against its abdomen and launches tiny itchy hairs into the air like a fuzzy little catapult. Those hairs can irritate the skin and eyes of predators — and humans too.
Even cooler: these tarantulas can slowly regrow lost hairs and even missing legs after molting. 🕷️

Our groomer is out here living the coolest life 😂🐾🍄
Not only does she make your pups look absolutely AMAZING, but on her days off she’s hiking trails, exploring nature, and somehow casually bringing us gifts like fresh Chicken of the Woods mushrooms like it’s no big deal.
At this point we’re convinced nobody has a groomer cooler, kinder, or more talented than ours. She’s one of a kind, and we’re so lucky to have her making dogs beautiful and our days brighter. 💛

In the early days of the Indianapolis 500, mascots and lucky animals were surprisingly common in the garages and pit areas. One of the most famous stories involves race teams bringing dogs to the track for “good luck,” especially during the 1930s and 1940s.
One famous moment came after Franchitti’s Indy 500 win when Bullseye practically stole the spotlight during the winner’s press conference. 🏁🐾 Who wouldn’t want their companion pet to share the spotlight, So cute!! 🥰
