Did you know SECAC has a mentoring program for members? π
Established in 2011, the SECAC Mentoring program connects emerging and established professionals by pairing them with experienced SECAC members through 45-minute personalized sessions. In these sessions, participants will review resumes, receive career pathway guidance, and academic mentorship, among other things.

Each year, SECAC recognizes the tremendous creative, scholarly, and professional accomplishments of its membership through five awards:

Members are welcome to nominate a SECAC colleague, to seek a colleague to make a nomination on oneβs behalf, or to self-nominate. SECAC is committed to being an inclusive organization, and you can help. Please consider nominating colleagues and peers, particularly those individuals who have been underrepresented historically.

Last chance to submit your artwork for the Juried Exhibition!
The SECAC Annual Juried Exhibition is an important cornerstone of the annual conference. It is a celebration of the creativity, innovation, and talent of our members. The Annual Juried Exhibition is open to the public during the day with an evening reception for all conference attendees. This yearβs exhibition will be juried by Maya Brooks and hosted in the Elberson Fine Arts Center Galleries at Salem College.
π About the Best in Show Award:
The Guest Juror will select one artist to receive a βBest in Showβ award of $1,000, and may, at her discretion, bestow additional awards.

π£ It's almost time to wrap up your best artworks for Annual Juried Exhibition! π£
π Eligibility:
The competition is open to all; however, membership in SECAC is required within 10 days of acceptance to the exhibition. If you do not join SECAC as a member, your work will not be displayed in the Juried Exhibition. There is a $10 entry fee for up to three submissions to the Juried Exhibition. This fee contributes to the cost of the exhibition and reception. Entry fee is non-refundable.
π About the Juror:
Maya Brooks is the Associate Curator of Contemporary Art at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh and Winston-Salem. She received her B.A. in Anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her M.A. in History from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
π About the Best in Show Award:

As an affiliated society of , SECAC sponsors a session at the CAA Annual Conference. We seek proposals for a 90-minute session on a topic relevant to the SECAC membership (including art history, studio art, art education, design, pedagogy, or a combination). Please submit a title and short (250 words or less) description of the session, along with the proposer's abbreviated CV in one combined PDF to committee chair Rachel Stephens at [email protected] by April 14, 2026.
The accepted chair will be notified by April 20 and will need to register their session with CAA by April 25. The chair will then review and select the papers for the session through the CAA submission portal. Within 90 days of acceptance, chairs must be members of both SECAC and CAA and register for the CAA conference.
