Earlier today, Marco Island was proud to welcome an intern from Collier County Emergency Management for a behind-the-scenes look at Marco Island Fire Rescue Headquarters and the City of Marco Island Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
During the visit, the intern had the opportunity to learn how our Fire Rescue personnel, City staff, and emergency management partners work together to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies affecting our community. Discussions included emergency planning, incident management, hurricane preparedness, interagency coordination, and the critical role the Emergency Operations Center plays during significant events.
We are always proud to support the next generation of emergency management professionals and share the collaborative efforts that help keep Marco Island safe, prepared, and resilient.

🚨 REPRESENTING MARCO ISLAND FIRE RESCUE ON THE NATIONAL STAGE
Marco Island Fire Rescue is proud to recognize Deputy Chief Matt Marshall, who recently traveled to Baltimore to serve as an instructor at the IAFC Hazardous Materials Conference.
Chief Marshall taught his nationally recognized class, “How Not to Blow Up at a Tanker Truck Rollover,” providing responders from across the country with practical, real-world training on cargo tank emergencies. Topics included rollover dynamics, product identification, valving and offload points, and critical decision-making during hazardous materials incidents.
The class concluded with hands-on training using a live cargo tanker outside Camden Yards, giving attendees the opportunity to apply classroom concepts directly to the equipment they may encounter in the field.
Opportunities like this showcase the expertise within Marco Island Fire Rescue and reinforce our commitment to training, education, and responder safety. When our members teach on the national stage, that knowledge and experience come right back home to benefit our community.
Congratulations, Chief Marshall, and thank you for representing Marco Island Fire Rescue with excellence.

New Fire Engine Delivered to Marco Island
Marco Island Fire Rescue has received its new Pierce 4x4 Freightliner Class A Pumper.
The new apparatus is equipped with a 1,500 GPM pump, a 750-gallon water tank, and a front bumper-mounted turret. It was specifically designed using lessons learned during Hurricane Ian, when floodwaters limited access for traditional fire apparatus while crews responded to multiple structure fires and vehicle fires caused by lithium-ion batteries.
With its four-wheel-drive capability and specialized design, this apparatus will help firefighters respond more effectively to fires and other emergencies during flood conditions. It will also serve as a reserve engine, enhancing fleet reliability and operational readiness.
The City of Marco Island received state appropriations funding to assist with the purchase of this apparatus. Marco Island Fire Rescue extends its sincere appreciation to Senator Kathleen Passidomo for her continued support of public safety funding and to the City Council for their commitment to enhancing the Department’s emergency response capabilities.
Over the next several weeks, firefighters will complete driver and operational training while the apparatus is fully equipped and prepared for service. A traditional push-in ceremony will be scheduled and announced once the engine is fully outfitted and ready to serve the Marco Island community.
