Here it is January of 2024 and contrary to my last post of January of 2022 I currently continue ascending masts to produce detailed rigging inspections for those who venture out to sea. Putting to good use the 30 years of knowledge & experience crammed into my noggin. Besides the views are pretty spectacular!
OceanSu RIGGING part of the business is quickly coming to a CLOSE. I no longer wish to pursue teaching and training a replacement for myself in this tough and unique type of business. I realize this adds to a fast paced vacuum of experienced sailboat rigging in the Collier and Lee County part of the SW Florida Coast. But this book of the life of a sailor too must have a final chapter, it's good to choose. What a freakin adventure this has been!!! 98' masts at sea in 24 knots of wind to tie on a backstay. Removing by hand and halyard a 12' wooden upper mast section off of a 90' two master......the list goes on............What a RIDE!!!!!

Oh if only my Daddy could see his 60 year old daughter now!!! He'd give a good chuckle, shake his head and say oh Susie Susie Susie Happy Birthday baby followed by a big squeeze! It's good knowing that he would be proud.

Omg I just got a call to inspect this Beast! Her name is Holy Grail how very appropriate. This is a foiling cat (she only flies head sails), in a light Breeze she does eight and a half knots. Makes me want to help do the delivery North so I can see what she really does in big winds woohoo!
This is the kind of work where you focus only on the area in front of you or you just get worn out thinking about how much is left of this Grand Banks 46-foot girl covered in wood trim.
Half a cup of coffee into the morning.
