Most outdoor lighting is brighter than needed.

Blue light scatters, disrupts sleep, and harms wildlife.

Amber reduces glare, and protects the stars.

Ask yourself: how often do those lights need to be on?

We love making these little nesting balls for migrating birds to make their nest. The trick is using stuffin em with lent from your dryer.

Bats provide enormous ecological and economic value through insect control.

Excess artificial light disrupts their hunting patterns, signaling deeper ecosystem instability.

Darkness supports balance.

Protecting the night sky does not require a major renovation.

Simple adjustments like shielding lights, reducing brightness, and choosing warmer bulbs can dramatically cut light pollution.

Fixing light pollution is one of the easiest environmental problems to solve.

We love 💕 our beautiful birds.

Join us to support and help our native birds migrate. Turn out your lights.

Are you ready for spring migration?

Next week is our official spring migration kickoff! Time to turn out non-essential lighting and/or following DarkSky Texas lighting recommendations to keep warm, shielded light pointing downward where you need it or on a motion sensor. Since many migratory birds fly at night, turning out lights helps them make their journey!

Migrants, like Barn Swallows, have already been spotted. What migrants have you been seeing?
