Teachers Are Sharing the One Thing They Wish They Could Tell Parents, and 👀

I thought it was impossible until I experienced it. Unbelievable but true!

PSA: Just because kids can read, even decode, does not automatically mean they can spell.

We must explicitly teach decoding in reverse (speech to print) through sound-symbol mapping and dictation (not memorization words or pattern lists) following the same phonics skill scope & sequence for decoding.

Poor spelling is such a stigma in our society, not reflective of IQ at all, but deserves our full instructional priority. I honestly feel that teaching kids to decode the 250 graphemes of the English language is an easier task than teaching them which one to spell. What do you think?
