Baby Backyard Ultra

We made an executive decision regarding this year's race...

Last year we had really awesome event shirts that were very well received. We love seeing them around today! We wanted to keep that spirit alive with a cool design for this year, and hopefully offer another useful piece of kit...but, a t-shirt has been done.
Now what?

We knew color and design were important elements to us, and we wanted to do even more of that. We also wanted to give you something that you could take and use anywhere. So, we chose to go with buffs for this year's event swag!

Not only are these things AWESOME!!! But, they also save us over $1,000 in costs compared to the t-shirts, which will be less sponsor funds needed for event costs, and therefore more donated!

What does this fund do?
The Kids Cancer Fund helps cover all of the pieces of life that start to fall off when a child undergoes cancer treatment: Gas in the tank, food on the table, Christmas presents, birthday presents, lodging, transport, and when it’s time…chemotherapy graduation parties.

Come out and have a wonderful time sharing a unique experience with people like you, and know that you’re helping support families experiencing the most difficult times of their lives.

September 12: Healthy Human Race Half Marathon;

10 years ago, we were independently fundraising for cancer research and patient/family support programs at Children’s Minnesota. Each year we discovered opportunities to do more, engage more, and raise more critical funds to help those in need.

5 years ago we began our signature fundraiser: The Baby Backyard 5K - 50K ULTRA.
We had less than 10 participants and raised $250… in 2025 we had 150+ participants between in-person and virtual, and we raised $10,000!

We also became the non-profit: Human Race Inc, with the dream of creating bigger and better ways to help those in need.
This year has been nothing short of immense, and you are the reason for our success!

Whether you donated to us, sponsored us or our event, or participated in the Baby Backyard 5K - 50K ULTRA in the past 5 years, all of your support is what made any of this possible.

This is what running around in the woods with your friends can do!

2025 Baby Backyard 5K - 50K ULTRA was an absolute blast! We had record participation, record fundraising, and record number of miles run by dogs!
In 2021, our event was 8 of us running around our neighborhood. It's almost unbelievable to look at where we are today!

With the overwhelming participation and support we received this year, we raised $10,000 for the Kids Cancer Fund at Children's Minnesota!
Awesome is the only word I know that expresses how wonderful this is.

The participants in our event are the ones making all of this possible. Since we donate every penny of race registrations, the more people participate, the more fundraising grows!

We're also deeply thankful for the assistance of our sponsors, public and private, organization, foundation, and individual. All of you together make these events possible. With their help, we are able to provide the location, insurance, and accommodations that make our events so special.
I am so grateful to the community at large for their contributions to our mission!
