If you are still on Windows 7, support ended this week and Microsoft is actually offering a free upgrade to Windows 10 so you can continue to receive security updates and patches.

**Disclaimer, I've done several of these without issue, but there are bound to be programs that break or need to be re-installed, so proceed with caution. Backup your data before upgrading if you want to play it safe.

Here are the steps:

- Go to this Microsoft link and click “Download tool now” https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
- Once downloaded, run the file and choose “Upgrade this PC now”
- When it asks if you want to keep your personal files or start fresh, be sure to keep your personal files.
- It should take 30 – 60 minutes to complete. If all goes well, you’ll now be on Windows 10. If any issues arise, it will revert you back to Windows 7.

Download Windows 10 To get started, you will first need to have a license to install Windows 10. You can then download and run the media creation tool. For more information on how to use the tool, see the instructions below.
